Prince Ademola Adeniyi, purported Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, has expressed a lack of confidence in the ICPC’s probe into the ongoing crisis, insisting only an independent panel can properly investigate the matter.
Prince Ademola Adeniyi, purported Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), says he has no confidence in the ongoing probe by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Daily Trust reported that Adeniyi made the remarks while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday, where he argued that the only credible way forward is for an independent panel to investigate the crisis.
According to him, government-led investigations cannot be trusted to deliver impartial outcomes in matters involving senior government figures.
“Government can’t probe Government. Are you telling me that the ICPC would indict Chief Femi Gbajabiamila? It’s not possible,” he said.
While acknowledging the President’s decision to set up a panel, Adeniyi insisted it fell short of what the situation truly requires.
“I thank our father, Mr President, for listening by setting up a panel, but what we need is an independent panel,” he said.
He further claimed that the Presidency had already cleared Gbajabiamila of wrongdoing, suggesting this undermines confidence in the fairness of any government-affiliated probe.
Adeniyi is billed to appear at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
