The Corporate Affairs Commission website has been offline for over three days, leaving Nigerian business owners unable to register companies or reserve names due to a recurring 502 Bad Gateway error.
Business owners and registration agents across Nigeria have been left frustrated as the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) online portal has remained completely inaccessible for at least three days. Checks confirmed that the website repeatedly returns a “Bad Gateway” error code 502. The prolonged outage comes just weeks after the commission implemented a temporary shutdown for scheduled maintenance in mid-April.
Lamenting the severe operational disruptions, a business registration agent told reporters that the “CAC portal haven’t been opening since Friday till today.” Users also took to social media to criticize the agency’s lack of public communication regarding the downtime, with one aggrieved user writing, “The CAC ICRP website is down since yesterday and there was no public address on it by any of your social channels, what an unorganised agency.”
The commission’s helpdesk lines remain unresponsive to inquiries. The recurring server issues follow a confirmed security breach last month involving unauthorized system access, threatening to further stall the formalization of small businesses and startups in Nigeria.
