NDLEA raids forest meth lab in Oyo, nabs Mexican, four others

NDLEA operatives raided a forest-based methamphetamine lab in Oyo State’s Tapa Village, arresting a Mexican drug specialist and four Nigerian accomplices linked to a transnational cartel.

NDLEA has struck again. Agency operatives stormed a hidden industrial-scale meth lab deep in a forest in Tapa Village, Ibarapa North, Oyo State, arresting five suspects — Mexican specialist Jose Villa Ochoa, 56, plus four Nigerian collaborators tied to a Nigerian-Mexican cartel, according to Vanguard.

NDLEA chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, speaking via spokesman Femi Babafemi in Abuja on Wednesday, called it a sophisticated production hub, not a makeshift setup. Operatives recovered precursor chemicals, reactors, distillation units, and meth-positive substances.

Marwa warned cartels are eyeing South-West forests as a synthetic drug manufacturing base — but vowed NDLEA won’t let up.
