NANS has warned it may mobilise students nationwide for protests, including occupying NELFUND’s headquarters, over a two-month delay in upkeep allowance payments.
Nigerian students are running out of patience. NANS says it’s ready to mobilise students nationwide for peaceful protests if NELFUND doesn’t sort out delayed upkeep allowances — and fast.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, NANS President Akinteye Babatunde Afeez says complaints have been pouring in from beneficiaries who haven’t seen their allowances in two months, leaving many struggling to cover basic academic and living costs amid Nigeria’s tough economy.
Akinteye is calling on NELFUND boss Akintunde Sawyerr, Education Minister Dr Maruf Alausa, and Finance Minister Wale Edun to step in urgently and clear the backlog.
His warning is blunt: fix this soon, or students may hit the streets — including occupying NELFUND’s headquarters.
