Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election as his PDP faction and the Allied Peoples’ Movement signed a formal alliance agreement in Ibadan.
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoples’ Movement have formalised an opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to Daily Post Nigeria.
Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Ibadan on Thursday. Seyi Bamidele and Governor Makinde signed for the PDP, while Oladele Oyadeji and APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle signed for the APM.
The agreement coincided with Makinde’s declaration of his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, positioning the Oyo governor as one of the early frontrunners in the race.
Political observers say the MoU signals a broader push by opposition parties to consolidate ahead of the January 2027 election, with the Makinde-APM alliance seen as a significant early development in opposition permutations.
