Lagos authorities have rescued an abused 11-year-old boy and arrested his mother, who is now facing prosecution for alleged torture.
The Lagos State Bureau of Public Defender has rescued an 11-year-old boy allegedly subjected to prolonged abuse by his mother in Lagos. The agency said the child suffered repeated physical assault involving electric cables and other harmful objects, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to the bureau, the case was reported to the Nigeria Police Force, prompting an investigation by officers at the Igbogbo Division in Ikorodu. The suspect was subsequently arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu for prosecution.
Authorities confirmed that the child has been removed from the abusive environment and placed in a secure government shelter for protection and care. The suspect has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings, as officials reaffirm commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children.
