Italy Suspends Schengen with Spain

Italy has halted its Schengen free-travel pact with Spain for one month. The decision follows a mass influx of 60,000 migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco. This temporary suspension requires non-Spanish, non-EU travelers from Spain to present a valid passport when entering Italy. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated the measure aims to safeguard national security and prevent “possible repercussions on our nations.”
