United States immigration authorities have deported a Nigerian national, Ayodeji Ajayi, following multiple criminal convictions and years of unlawful residence in the country.
The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X account, saying Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa but failed to leave after dropping out of school.
According to the agency, Ajayi remained in the country illegally and accumulated a lengthy criminal record. ICE said his convictions included domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation and obstruction. The agency also cited a criminal history involving allegations and charges related to kidnapping, rape and family neglect.
Authorities did not provide details about where the offences occurred or the outcome of the additional charges. ICE also did not specify the exact date the deportation was carried out.
The agency linked the removal to the immigration enforcement agenda of President Donald Trump, highlighting ongoing efforts to identify and deport undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
“Thanks to @POTUS’ commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly,” ICE said in its statement.
According to Punch, the deportation comes as US authorities continue a broader crackdown on immigration violations and criminal offenders, with enforcement actions and removals increasing across the country.
