Fake agency scandal: Disputed Council DG says he’s ready to clear his name in court

The self-proclaimed Director-General of a presidential council disowned by the Presidency has denied forgery and impersonation allegations, saying he is ready to clear his name in court.

Adeyemi Denies Forgery, Accuses Gbajabiamila of Demanding 48% Cut of ₦27bn Grant

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, has hit back at the Presidency’s criminal charges against him, insisting he has nothing to hide, Naija News reports.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Adeyemi said he welcomed the court process.

“Definitely, sir. If I’m wrong, let the court of law do that, and if I’m right, let the court of law do that; do the right thing,” he said.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had earlier described Adeyemi as a “con artist” who allegedly forged official documents and falsely presented himself as head of a non-existent agency. Police investigations reportedly established allegations of forgery, impersonation and fraudulent misrepresentation, with an eight-count charge filed against Adeyemi and two alleged accomplices at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

But Adeyemi fired back with a bombshell allegation, accusing President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of demanding 48 per cent of the agency’s ₦27.39bn take-off grant — a claim Gbajabiamila has denied.

“The major rationale behind the disagreement between myself and the Chief of Staff is that he allegedly requested 48 per cent of the take-off grant from the same agency, which he denies,” Adeyemi claimed, adding that ₦400m had allegedly been collected by proxy with an outstanding ₦200m still being demanded to secure his appointment.

When asked about staff salary funding, Adeyemi declined to comment, saying the matter was before the court. He called on President Tinubu to set up an independent investigative panel.

The controversy deepened further with reports that an entity described as the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/PFIPC appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Bill with a total allocation of ₦1.303bn. The Presidency maintains the agency does not exist and alleges Adeyemi opened multiple bank accounts linked to fictitious entities using fake documents to mislead the Office of the Accountant-General.

The case returns to the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 27.
