Arsenal have reclaimed first place in the English Premier League following a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The win on Match Day 18 moved the Gunners above Manchester City in the title race as the 2025–26 season enters the busy festive period.
Martin Ødegaard opened the scoring with a strike from the edge of the box, giving Arsenal an early lead. An own goal by Georginio Rutter early in the second half doubled the home side’s advantage against Brighton.
Brighton pulled a goal back through Diego Gomez, but Arsenal held on to secure all three points. The result returns Arsenal to the summit of the Premier League table as the season progresses toward the New Year.
