The Association of Campus Journalists at Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU) has halted its coverage of the Students’ Union election due to alleged harassment and intimidation of its members. Reporters were reportedly denied access to polling units and, in some cases, physically obstructed.
ACJOAU President Esther Olatimehin and PRO Olanrewaju Lawal stated these actions represent a significant infringement on press freedom. The suspension will continue until journalists’ safety and access are ensured.
