Enugu receives $125,000 U.S. grant for preservation of Lejja Iron-Smelting site

The U.S. Consulate in Lagos has awarded a $125,000 grant to Enugu State’s Centre for Memories for the preservation of the ancient Lejja Iron-Smelting site. U.S. Consul General Brandon Hudspeth presented the funds, emphasizing digital documentation and conservation efforts. Enugu’s Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai announced plans for legal protection and national monument designation, aligning with national heritage goals.
