The British High Commission in Abuja has raised concerns over BVAS glitches, vote buying and inaccessible polling units during the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.
While congratulating voters and Governor Abiodun Oyebanji on his re-election, the Commission praised INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for delivering a largely peaceful and orderly poll under the Electoral Act 2026.
However, British observers reported delays linked to the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), warning that technical problems could weaken voter confidence and discourage participation. The team also noted that many polling units were difficult for voters with disabilities to access.
According to Sahara Reporters, observers witnessed instances of vote trading and interference by party agents, urging stakeholders to address the issues ahead of future elections, including the 2027 general polls.
