Suspected bandits stormed Kuda-Kuda village in Sokoto State’s Goronyo LGA at midnight, killing Chief Imam Liman Audu and three others, abducting several residents including women, and leaving three critically injured — in what locals say is the community’s 11th bandit attack.
They came for the Imam first
In the early hours of Thursday, suspected bandits descended on Kuda-Kuda village in Goronyo Local Government Area, Sokoto State, at precisely 12:58 a.m. — and for nearly two hours, they owned the night.
According to Daily Trust, Chief Imam Liman Audu was killed in his own residence. Three young men — Yahaya Hasanu, Zahara Mu’azu and Ibrahim Dayyabu — were shot dead on the spot after refusing the bandits’ orders to follow them into the forest.
“After killing the Imam, they met three youths and asked them to follow them. When the youths refused, the bandits shot and killed them on the spot,” a resident told local correspondents.
The chaos was total. Gunshots rang from every direction, sending terrified villagers scrambling into the night.
“We were keeping vigil when we suddenly heard gunshots from different directions. We ran home, woke our families and fled towards the outskirts of the village to save our lives,” one petrified resident recalled.
The attackers went house to house, abducting residents — mostly married women. Among those taken were Malam Shehu Farar Zaki, Yar Yamma, Khadija and six others. Three additional victims shot in the chest were rushed to hospital in Sokoto, their survival uncertain.
Most chilling? Residents say this was Kuda-Kuda’s 11th bandit attack — and still no meaningful security presence exists.
Calls to Sokoto Police and the Governor’s Security Adviser went completely unanswered.
Eleven attacks. Zero accountability.
