Senator Ireti Kingibe says she never endorsed the committee report that recommended Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension, claiming she was at a separate retreat when it was adopted, according to Premium Times.
Plot twist in the Akpoti-Uduaghan saga: FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe says her name and signature showed up on a report she never actually signed off on. Speaking on Arise News, she explained that she and several other Ethics Committee members were away at a Tax Reform retreat the day the suspension recommendation got adopted.
Kingibe said she only signed an attendance register — not the report itself — and insists she’s not accusing anyone of forgery, just confusion. She also suggested the whole saga could’ve been avoided if Akpoti-Uduaghan had simply apologized.
