Speaking at the G7 summit in France, Trump called the new Iran ceasefire pact “not final” and warned Tehran that any breach would mean a swift return to US airstrikes, just two days before the deal’s formal signing in Switzerland.
Donald Trump just reminded Iran who’s still holding the matches. Sitting beside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the G7 summit in France on Wednesday, the US President made clear the much-hyped peace agreement isn’t locked in yet — and Tehran shouldn’t push its luck
As Daily Star reports, Trump told reporters the pact is just a “Memorandum of Understanding,” and if Iran doesn’t play ball, the US is ready to send strikes “right smack in the middle of their head.”
The warning comes days after Trump and Iran reportedly wrapped up terms to end their conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz — the chokepoint shipping roughly a fifth of the world’s oil — with a formal signing ceremony due in Switzerland on Friday. The agreement reportedly dangles up to $300 billion to help rebuild Iran, contingent on Tehran scaling back its nuclear ambitions. Trump put the odds of Iran ever building a bomb at “99.99%” against.
It’s a familiar Trump tactic: talk peace, but keep the threat of force loaded and visible. Whether Tehran takes the warning as routine bluster or a genuine red line could shape how smoothly Friday’s signing actually goes.
