Peter Obi to Nigerians:I’m not going to tell you how I’ll fix Nigeria’s power crisis, fight insecurity

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has defended his refusal to detail how he’ll deliver on his electricity and security promises if elected, telling Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni that Nigerians should judge him on his track record instead.

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has doubled down on his refusal to spell out the nitty-gritty of how he plans to fix Nigeria’s electricity and security woes, insisting voters don’t need a blueprint — just a look at his résumé.

According to Sahara Reporters, the former Anambra governor made the case in a fiery sit-down with Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni, who pushed him hard on whether his relentless jabs at President Bola Tinubu’s government come backed by any real alternatives.

Pressed on his pledge to hit at least 10,000 megawatts of electricity within four years, Obi held firm: “I have said, and I repeat, that in four years, we will generate, transmit and distribute at least 10,000 megawatts of electricity.”

When Oseni demanded a breakdown of the plan, Obi shut the question down flat. “No, no, no, I’m not going to tell you how. It is not for you to know how.”

His reasoning? Forget the policy paper, check the man. “It is for you to look at the man who is saying this. Go and check political promises all over the world. You are going to look at who is saying this,” he said.

Obi also took a swipe at Tinubu, arguing the administration has failed to move the needle on power generation despite similar promises ahead of the 2023 polls.
