Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has revealed that General Sani Abacha personally pressured him to become Chief of Army Staff in 1993. Abubakar stated he twice rejected the offer following the coup that ousted the Interim National Government.
The revelations are detailed in his autobiography, ‘Call of Duty.’ The book also touches on his past relationship with Abacha, which began in childhood and continued through military service, including the Civil War.
