Nigerian-British singer Talay Riley stabbed to death in London

Nigerian-British singer and songwriter Talay Riley has died after being stabbed in East London, with police launching a murder investigation into the fatal attack.

The music world is mourning the tragic death of Nigerian-British singer and songwriter Mark Yinka Orabiyi, popularly known as Talay Riley, who was fatally stabbed in East London.

According to PM NEWS, the 35-year-old artiste was attacked around 9 a.m. on Friday on Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of the stabbing, but despite efforts to save him, Riley was pronounced dead.

The shocking incident has prompted homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command to launch a full-scale murder investigation. Authorities are yet to announce any arrests as inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

In an emotional statement, Riley’s family confirmed his death and paid tribute to the award-winning songwriter.

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we confirm that Mark ‘Yinka’ Orabiyi, professionally known as Talay Riley, passed away yesterday morning,” the family said.

They described him as a gifted musician whose influence stretched far beyond the recording studio.

“Talay will fondly be remembered by those who knew him publicly for his incredible talent as a Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum selling songwriter and artiste.

“For those that knew and loved him personally, it is his humour, generous spirit and unmistakable presence that will be missed the most,” the statement added.

Riley built a respected career as a songwriter and performer, earning recognition for his contributions to global music projects and collaborations with major artistes.
