A new tool, the Decoupling Sovereignty Index (DSI), aims to measure the gap between a state’s claimed legal authority and its actual exercised power. Introduced by Max Amuchie, the DSI is part of the Trinity of State Decay framework, positing that state failure stems from a sovereignty event rather than just institutional malfunction.
The DSI quantifies this by analyzing three vectors: Money (M1), representing the shadow order’s financial displacement of the state; Land (L), measuring control over territorial authority and production; and Mind (M2), assessing the shift in legitimacy, justice, and identity towards non-state actors.
