Makinde visits Oriire, promises safe return of abducted pupils

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has visited Oriire Local Government Area, where dozens of pupils and teachers were abducted two weeks ago, assuring anxious families that every available resource is being deployed to secure their release.

According to People’s Gazette, the governor met with affected families, community leaders and residents, acknowledging their pain and promising that the government remains fully committed to bringing the victims home safely.

Makinde said security agencies are reviewing rescue strategies daily and described the abductors as “dangerous and unpredictable,” stressing that certain details could not be disclosed because of ongoing operations. He urged residents to remain calm, avoid blame games and support rescue efforts through unity and cooperation.

The visit comes amid growing public concern following the abduction and the reported killing of one of the kidnapped teachers.
