CCC Sharon Parish has emerged as the grand prize winner of the annual SBJ Oshoffa International Juvenile Music Competition, securing a $2,500 cash prize at an event organized to celebrate Children’s Day and preserve the musical legacy of the church’s late founder.
Winners have emerged in the annual SBJ Oshoffa International Juvenile Music Competition, an initiative organized by True Word in Season—the evangelical arm of the Greater Tomorrow Group of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC). The highly competitive musical tournament initially featured 26 youth choirs drawn from various parishes across the South-West region and other parts of Nigeria. Following a rigorous selection process, the grand finale was held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the prestigious MUSON Centre in Lagos, where the final nine qualifying choirs competed intensely for the coveted top honors and a star cash prize of $2,500. At the climax of the event, CCC Sharon Parish was crowned the overall champion, while CCC Ijaye Olifi and CCC Glorious Children clinched the second and third prizes respectively.
The convener of True Word in Season, Samuel Ademola Bolaji, explained that the initiative was deliberately curated to coincide with the 2026 Children’s Day celebrations and to systematically elevate the technical and spiritual musical standards of the church’s younger generation. Bolaji emphasized that the project serves to preserve and honor the rich heritage established by the late founder of the church, Reverend Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, who was an accomplished musicologist. Organizers believe that anchoring the creative development of the youth within this classical framework will protect the core identity of the denomination, ensuring that future generations remain aligned with the foundational tenets of the global white-garment church.
The large gathering of young choristers attracted significant praise from the church’s hierarchy, with senior clergy describing the massive turnout as a spiritual milestone. In his opening remarks, Most Superior Evangelist Samson Olatunji Banjo expressed deep satisfaction with the continuity of the program, noting that the children present represent the future leadership structure of the organization. Banjo remarked that older members were privileged to witness what he characterized as a looming spiritual awakening driven by the youth. Reflecting on the long-term vision of the competition, Bolaji stated: “The vision is to improve the musical standard of participants in line with the legacy of Pa SBJ Oshoffa, who during his lifetime was a trained musicologist. He understood music deeply. If we begin to raise young people in line with the legacy of the founder, we will be rebuilding the foundation of the church according to the original vision.”
