A 30-year-old man, identified as Pere Odese, was violently lynched by an angry mob on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, while attempting to flee the village after he hacked his aged father, Friday Odese, to death. Local sources revealed that the fatal confrontation was triggered by extreme food scarcity and economic frustration directly tied to the severe regional insecurity that has heavily paralyzed farming activities across the agrarian locality.
Eyewitnesses in the neighborhood disclosed that a bitter altercation erupted when the younger Odese demanded food from his father, who was a well-known local subsistence farmer. The deceased father reportedly explained to his son that there was no food anywhere in the house, adding that he had been completely blocked from accessing his family farm to harvest cassava due to the heavy presence of heavily armed unknown gunmen who have taken over the deep forest tracks in the area.
