The EFCC has arrested the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, over N701 billion allegedly linked to the Progressive Governors’ Forum amid accusations of financial mismanagement against Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma.
According to ThisDay, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, over funds totalling N701 billion linked to the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
An EFCC source told ThisDay: “Yes, we have arrested him for alleged money laundering offences. Operatives of the commission went after him after he didn’t honour invitation extended to him and is currently in our custody. The money is to the tune of about N701 billion.”
ThisDay gathered the matter may be connected to allegations of financial mismanagement against PGF Chairman and Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma, who allegedly failed to properly account for funds set aside for 2027 election campaigns.
In a separate development, a court sentenced former Power Minister Mamman Saleh to 75 years imprisonment in absentia for laundering N33.8 billion meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
