Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has withdrawn from the 2027 Sokoto South senatorial race, with the African Democratic Congress endorsing former House of Representatives Speaker Faruk Yabo as consensus candidate in his place.
According to Daily Post, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has withdrawn from the race for the Sokoto South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
The African Democratic Congress has endorsed former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Faruk Yabo, as consensus candidate to replace Tambuwal in the senatorial contest.
Daily Post recalls that Tambuwal had previously contested the 2023 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party before stepping down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a related development, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, who served as Deputy Governor under Tambuwal during his tenure as Sokoto State Governor, has emerged as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.
