Sanwo-Olu urges collective action against piracy

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called for a united front against piracy in Africa’s entertainment industry, warning that intellectual property theft threatens the sector’s achievements. He emphasized that creative excellence is diminished if creators are not rewarded for their work.

Speaking at the AMVCA awards, Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed that piracy drains revenue and hinders sustainability. Dr. John Asein of the Nigerian Copyright Commission echoed the call for collective action, highlighting piracy’s threat to livelihoods and the importance of respecting copyright.
