APC screened 14 governors and President Tinubu’s challenger ahead of the 2027 elections, while Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara was absent from the exercise.
The All Progressives Congress screened 14 governors and presidential aspirant Stanley Osifo ahead of the 2027 elections, but Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was absent from the exercise.
The party’s screening began after nomination forms closed on May 6, with governorship and presidential primaries scheduled for May 21 and May 23 respectively.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said governors absent from screening were excused because of official duties. “Any governor who has state issues to attend to… we excuse them,” he stated.
Among those screened were governors of Kano, Gombe, Kebbi, Plateau, Benue, Delta and Cross River states.
Osifo, President Bola Tinubu’s only challenger, described the screening as “rigorous but fair” and said he remained committed to the race despite the party leadership’s endorsement of the president ahead of the primaries.
