Fani-Kayode confirms posting as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa

VIA REAL FFK ON X:

Former minister Femi Fani-Kayode has confirmed his approval as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa, dismissing reports of a German rejection as fabricated and announcing legal action against the publication responsible.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has announced his approval as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa, following a voluntary swap from an initial posting to Germany.

Fani-Kayode said he formally requested the redeployment, citing personal preference and a desire to serve in a country aligned with his pan-African values. “I would rather serve in a country that shares some of my convictions, beliefs and values when it comes to world affairs,” he stated.

The switch was facilitated through a straight swap with Senator Sam Enang, who took the Germany posting instead. President Bola Tinubu and former Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar both approved the arrangement.

Fani-Kayode firmly denied online reports claiming Germany formally rejected him, describing the story as “a total and complete fabrication.” He has since petitioned security agencies and briefed lawyers to pursue a defamation suit against the publication.
