APC has officially exempted President Tinubu from screening ahead of its 2027 presidential primaries, citing prior clearance and broad party endorsements.
The All Progressives Congress has waived the screening requirement for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential primaries, declaring him “duly screened” under the party’s constitution. The decision was reached during the APC National Working Committee’s 188th meeting in Abuja on May 6, 2026.
In a statement, APC spokesman Felix Morka said the waiver was granted under Article 13.4 provisions empowering the NWC to supervise primaries and issue waivers in special circumstances. The party argued Tinubu’s previous clearance before the 2022 primaries made another appearance unnecessary.
The APC also cited endorsements from the Progressive Governors Forum, National Assembly members, and party stakeholders as justification for the decision. Tinubu’s N100m nomination forms were purchased by lawmaker James Faleke. INEC fixed the presidential election for January 16, 2027, while party primaries run from April 23 to May 30, 2026.
