Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has defected from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, declaring her bid for the FCT senatorial seat in 2027. Announcing via social media, she linked her move to a “deeper understanding” of Nigeria’s future and loyalty to Peter Obi.
“The next couple of days will define the future of this nation… I resigned… to join the NDC,” she wrote.
Yesufu said her earlier support for Obi informed her ADC entry and continues to guide her political path. “When I give my word, I keep it,” she added.
Her defection reflects ongoing opposition shifts following recent moves by Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, signaling intensifying coalition politics ahead of 2027 elections.
