Supreme Court Restores David Mark-Led ADC Leadership
The Supreme Court on Thursday set aside the Court of Appeal’s order for status quo ante bellum in the African Democratic Congress leadership dispute, effectively restoring the David Mark-led executive.
The apex court held that the appellate court exceeded its jurisdiction by issuing the order after dismissing the matter brought before it by one of the factions. The ruling also reverses INEC’s earlier delisting of the Mark-led leadership.
Tinubu Nominates Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power, subject to Senate confirmation.
The nomination was disclosed on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tegbe’s appointment is expected to strengthen efforts to address challenges in Nigeria’s power sector.
Supreme Court Nullifies PDP Ibadan Convention
The Supreme Court has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
In a split judgment delivered on Thursday, three of five justices held that the appeal filed by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction lacked merit. The court ruled that the convention violated an earlier Federal High Court order restraining the exercise.
AGF Backs Suit Seeking Deregistration of Five Political Parties
The Attorney General of the Federation has supported a suit seeking the deregistration of five political parties, including the African Democratic Congress, over alleged constitutional breaches.
The case before the Federal High Court in Abuja also affects Action Alliance, Action Peoples Party, Accord Party and Zenith Labour Party. Plaintiffs argue the parties failed to meet constitutional performance thresholds.
Catholic Archdiocese Raises Alarm Over Stolen Blessed Sacrament
The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri has raised the alarm over a break-in at St. Mulumba Parish, Wetheral Road, Owerri, where a monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament was stolen.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has passed out 1,068 newly trained constables in Akwa Ibom State.
The officers completed firearms and tactical training conducted in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government. The IGP said the exercise reflects efforts to strengthen operational capacity and grassroots policing.
FEC Approves Three Major Rail Projects
The Federal Executive Council on Thursday approved contracts for three rail projects in Lagos, Kano and Kaduna.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the projects are aimed at boosting infrastructure and stimulating economic growth. The meeting was presided over by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Customs Seizes N18.9bn Drugs at Tin Can Port
The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command, has intercepted illicit drugs valued at N18.9 billion in a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, said the seizure demonstrates sustained inter-agency collaboration to curb smuggling through Nigeria’s seaports.
