U.S. lawmaker slams Tinubu for spending $9M lobbying congress while christian genocide goes unaddressed

U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has publicly accused President Tinubu’s administration of spending millions lobbying American lawmakers while failing to protect Nigerian Christians from ongoing violence.

U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore has sharply criticised Nigeria’s government for prioritising Washington lobbying over addressing the killing of Christians in the country.

Announcing the passage of the U.S. State Department funding bill, Moore wrote: “The Tinubu Administration is spending millions lobbying Congress while failing to adequately address the genocide Nigerian Christians face daily.”

He added: “In my view, the Tinubu Administration has failed to live up to the conditions the appropriations committee placed on security assistance.”

The bill restricts U.S. security assistance to Nigeria unless Abuja meets specific conditions, including prosecuting Fulani militia groups, protecting displaced persons, and advancing religious freedom.

Reports indicate Tinubu’s administration spent $9 million on a Republican lobbyist to ease pressure from Washington. Presidential aides declined to comment directly.
