An 11-year-old Lagos pupil died after falling from a school building, with his family alleging government inaction over urgent medical funding and raising fresh concerns about school safety standards.
An 11-year-old student, David Oluwanifemi Elijah, has died after falling from a second-floor classroom window at Millennium Community Junior Grammar School in Egbeda, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. The incident occurred on December 5, 2025, during break time, with the boy reportedly pushed by a classmate. He was initially treated at a private hospital before being transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where doctors recommended two urgent surgeries estimated at ₦5 million.
The family alleged that despite multiple appeals to education authorities and the state government, no financial assistance was provided before the boy’s condition worsened. Officials at Education District 1 said they forwarded requests for support and disputed claims of inaction, while the Ministry of Education said it was unaware of the appeal at the time of inquiry. The tragedy has sparked concerns over safety standards and emergency response protocols in public schools across Lagos State.
