Iyabo Obasanjo says she has no regrets joining APC, accusing PDP of sidelining her and operating a transactional leadership style
Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, says she does not regret leaving the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State. Speaking on a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, she said the PDP only contacted her during elections to mobilise support while ignoring her contributions.
Obasanjo said her decision was based on personal analysis and comfort, adding that she felt sidelined by the party after she left active politics about 15 years ago. She criticised the PDP’s leadership approach, describing it as transactional and arguing that political parties must value and engage their members if they hope to win elections.
