An Ondo couple kidnapped in Akure North were released after four days in captivity following payment of a N5 million ransom.
An Akure North couple, Mr. Jamiu Olawale and his wife, were released on Tuesday night after spending four days in captivity following their abduction in Ilu-Abo community, Ondo State. Gunmen initially demanded a N40 million ransom but eventually accepted N5 million to secure their freedom, according to family sources.
The abduction, which occurred shortly after the couple returned home from their shop, heightened security fears in Ilu-Abo and surrounding areas. Police had deployed tactical operatives to search nearby forests, but the resolution came through negotiation, with the couple now safely reunited with their family.
