Former Labour Party presidential candidate and ADC chieftain Peter Obi has said Nigerians elected “thieves” to manage the nation’s resources, declaring that “you cannot hire a thief to look after your wealth; he will definitely steal it.” Speaking at his declaration for the ADC presidential ticket in Akwa Ibom, Mr Obi criticised President Bola Tinubu over repeated expansions of the 2023 budget “without a clearly defined end date,” alleging a pattern of fiscal recklessness and weakened transparency, while urging Nigerians to hold politicians accountable ahead of 2027.
