Nollywood’s record-breaking 2025 box office was powered by ten highly bankable stars whose films helped local cinema rival Hollywood’s market share in West Africa.
Nollywood ended 2025 on a high, with leading actors and actresses drawing massive audiences and boosting West Africa’s box office to N15.6 billion. Their strong on-screen appeal reinforced the growing commercial power of star-led Nigerian films.
Despite rising ticket prices averaging N5,596, audiences continued to support familiar faces whose films consistently crossed the N100 million mark. The results point to a maturing industry where bankable actors, improved distribution, and higher production quality are combining to position Nollywood as a dominant force in the regional film market.
