‘Rivers is a no-go area’ –Wike vows to deliver state for Tinubu without Fubara

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that his political machinery does not require the support of a sitting governor to mobilize massive votes for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election in Rivers State.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asserted that his political camp possesses the independent capacity to secure Rivers State for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections without the backing of the state’s sitting governor. Speaking in Port Harcourt on Saturday during the inauguration of the “Renewed Hope Ambassadors” headquarters, Wike dismissed the necessity of executive incumbency for grassroots mobilization. He maintained that his team had already established a formidable presence across all 23 local government areas, effectively labeling the state a “no-go area” for political rivals.

Wike lauded the efforts of Desmond Akawor, the coordinator of the Rivers chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for spearheading a comprehensive mobilization drive. The Minister emphasized that the structures being put in place are designed to ensure a landslide victory for the President’s re-election bid, regardless of the current friction with the state administration led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “Desmond Akawor, you have shown enough capacity to mobilise; you have moved to all the nooks and crannies of Rivers to talk about Tinubu for president in 2027,” Wike stated, adding that the newly commissioned secretariat and vehicles were a testament to their commitment to the “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Reaffirming his dominance in the state’s political landscape, Wike insisted that the recent inauguration of zonal coordinators had sent a clear signal to the global community regarding his camp’s influence. He noted: “I have said before that Rivers state is a no-go area, and I want to say again that this state is totally for Tinubu. We have made sure that all the 23 local governments and zonal coordinators were inaugurated; that day Nigerians all over the world watched that Rivers state is a no-go area.” The Minister concluded by describing the newly established secretariat as a pioneering project in the region, signaling an early start to the 2027 campaign cycle.
