Lagos police have arrested three suspects accused of cyber blackmail after allegedly extorting a victim with threats to release her nude photographs.
The Lagos Police Special Fraud Unit has arrested three suspects over an alleged cyber blackmail and extortion scheme involving threats to release nude photographs after demanding N10 million from a victim. DSP Ovie Ewhubare said the suspects were arrested following a petition by the victim, who reported repeated threats and monetary demands.
“The situation escalated when the suspects demanded an additional N10 million prompting her to formally petition the police,” Ewhubare said. He added that investigations revealed one suspect unlawfully accessed the victim’s phone and shared the images with accomplices. The suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned in court.
