IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has formally filed an appeal challenging his conviction and life sentence handed down by a Federal High Court.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has appealed his conviction and life imprisonment imposed by the Federal High Court. The appeal was confirmed on Wednesday by his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Ejimakor disclosed that Kanu personally initiated the appeal process, describing it as a significant legal step. He wrote, “The mother of all appeals has been filed, as MAZI NNAMDI KANU personally appeals against his conviction/sentence today, the 4th of February 2025.”
Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, following his trial on terrorism-related charges linked to his leadership of the proscribed pro-Biafra group.
