More than 95,000 people have died by suicide worldwide since the start of 2026, according to Worldometers figures compiled from World Health Organization (WHO) data. As of this report, the toll stood at 95,406, underscoring the scale of a persistent global public health concern.

WHO estimates that about 727,000 people die by suicide annually, with nearly 73% occurring in low- and middle-income countries. The agency says suicide is preventable through coordinated public health measures, including improved mental health care, early intervention and responsible media reporting.
