Rivers police arrest landlord for de-roofing tenant’s apartment

Rivers police have arrested a landlord accused of de-roofing a tenant’s apartment, leaving his family exposed and causing extensive property damage.

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a Ghanaian landlord, Mr. Samuel Frimpong, for allegedly removing the roof of his tenant’s apartment in Mgbuoba, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State. The tenant, Mr. Anozie Tochukwu, said the action followed his request for a two-week grace period to relocate.

“To give myself time to relocate, I showed proof of payment for a new apartment on February 1 and asked for 14 days to move,” Tochukwu said, adding that heavy rainfall destroyed property worth about ₦25 million. Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko said, “The landlord has been arrested and is currently in police custody.”
