Defence Minister Christopher Musa says he was marked for arrest or assassination in the foiled coup plot, describing the suspects as unserious and incapable of overthrowing Nigeria’s democracy.
The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has disclosed that he was among the targets of the recently foiled coup plot against President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Musa said the plotters planned to arrest him and kill him if he resisted, describing them as “a bunch of very unserious individuals.”
“I was also a target… I was supposed to be arrested, and if I refused, I was supposed to be shot,” Musa said. He added that most suspects had been arrested, noting the plot was driven by personal grievances and lacked the backing required to overthrow a democratic government, insisting Nigerians would have resisted any such attempt.
