Tyla makes history with second Grammy win for Best African Music Performance

South African sensation Tyla secured her second career Grammy on Sunday, February 1, 2026, winning the Best African Music Performance category with her hit single “Push 2 Start” at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old singer triumphed over a heavily Nigerian-dominated shortlist that included Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You,” and the Ayra Starr and Wizkid collaboration “Gimme Dat,” as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love.”

Having previously been the inaugural recipient of the award in 2024 for her viral smash “Water,” Tyla’s repeat victory cements her status as a global powerhouse in a category designed to “spotlight African music on the global stage.”
