Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticized President Bola Tinubu for spending most of January abroad, leaving Nigerians to contend with insecurity, power outages, and other national challenges. Obi stated on 𝕏, “While leaders in other nations prioritise domestic governance in January, Nigeria’s president prioritises international engagements over pressing national issues.” He added that Tinubu only returns to Nigeria to welcome APC defectors.
Obi urged the APC and Tinubu to shift focus from political maneuvering to addressing the daily struggles of Nigerians, highlighting concerns in education, infrastructure, and security. He said, “The collective impact of these events paints a grim portrait of a nation grappling simultaneously with insecurity, economic distress, failing infrastructure, and profound social upheaval.” Obi called for genuine leadership and a new direction for Nigeria.
