U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has urged Washington to impose sanctions and apply maximum pressure to halt alleged Christian killings and mass abductions in Nigeria following the Kaduna kidnapping of worshippers.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has called on the American government to deploy all available leverage and sanctions to address what he described as ongoing mass murder and abductions of Christians in Nigeria, following the kidnapping of worshippers in Kaduna State.
Reacting to the January 18 abduction in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area, Cruz described the incident as “evil” and urged decisive international intervention. “We should use all of our leverage and sanctions to stop the mass murder and kidnapping of Christians,” he said.
Bandits reportedly abducted about 177 Christians during the Kaduna attack, with no rescues recorded as of the time of reporting. The incident has renewed global attention on insecurity and allegations of religious persecution in parts of Nigeria.
