Witness alleges Ngige approved NSITF contract awarded to non-bidding firm

A witness told an Abuja court that a Makurdi NSITF contract allegedly approved under Chris Ngige was awarded to a company that did not participate in the bidding process.

A prosecution witness on Wednesday told an FCT High Court in Gwarimpa, Abuja, that a contract to renovate the NSITF office in Makurdi was awarded to a firm that did not bid for the project. Mr Pedro Chellen testified in the trial of former Labour Minister Chris Ngige before Justice M. A. Hassan.

Chellen said his firm participated in the bidding but later discovered the contract went to a non-bidding company, prompting a petition to the EFCC. “I was invited by the EFCC, where my statements were taken,” he said, adding that the contract sum later rose from N80m to N120m.
