Three police officers were killed and two others injured after suspected bandits ambushed a patrol team along the Guga–Bakori axis of Katsina State.
Three police officers have been killed while two others sustained injuries following an attack by suspected bandits in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, saying the attack occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
According to the statement, the officers were on routine anti-crime patrol along the Guga–Bakori axis at about 12:44 p.m. when they were ambushed by armed hoodlums who opened fire. “The officers responded bravely and repelled the attack. Unfortunately, three officers paid the supreme price during the encounter, while two others sustained injuries,” DSP Sadiq said.
He added that the injured officers were immediately taken to the nearest hospital for treatment and are responding positively. DSP Sadiq further disclosed that investigations have commenced to track down and arrest the perpetrators of the “dastardly act,” assuring that further developments would be communicated in due course.
