Alleged coup plotters to face court-martial under civilian oversight – Usman

Kukasheka-Usman stated this while fielding questions on Arise News on Tuesday.

He stated that the offence was serious and required strict compliance with both military and civilian legal procedures.

Former Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka-Usman (Rtd.), has said officers accused of plotting a coup will be tried by court-martial under civilian administration. He spoke on Arise News, stressing that the offence is serious and must follow both military and civilian legal procedures.

Usman explained that under the Armed Forces Act, service members are subject to military, civil and international laws. “Under Section 114 of the Armed Forces Act, military personnel cannot be tried for civilian offences not listed in the Act…,” he said, urging the public to allow due process.
