Allison Madueke, Ex-Nigerian oil minister denies living ‘luxury’ life on bribes

British prosecutors on Tuesday told a London court that former Nigerian petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke accepted bribes including luxury goods, high-end properties and transport from oil industry figures seeking lucrative contracts. Alison-Madueke, who served between 2010 and 2015, is standing trial at Southwark Crown Court on multiple bribery charges, which she denies.

Prosecutor Alexandra Healy said Alison-Madueke “enjoyed a life of luxury in London” funded by individuals who believed she would use her influence in their favour. The former minister is on trial alongside oil executive Olatimbo Ayinde and her brother, Doye Agama, with all defendants denying the allegations.
